The Fruit of Grisaia takes place in a peculiar school with only five female students. It turns out that they are like fruits that have fallen from their trees. Each of them has dark stories. Then, one day, a mysteriously-identified male student enrolls in the school. Who is he? What is his purpose? Are you also a wretched child who fell too far from your tree?
What is it that makes the difference? The Fruit of Grisaia similar to Classroom of the Elite is that it also has a school setting and a bad-ass main character. What’s the difference? What’s the difference? Also, this show doesn’t focus too much on the school theme. It is still very easy to understand. The art, the sound, the characters, and the plot—they all blend together to yield a dark and unique experience.
6. Alderamin in the Sky
Ah, Alderamin in the Sky. ‘Tis an underrated anime as clear as the sky. It appears to be a very generic anime with no original plot or characters. But on the inside, it’s a show with brilliant staging and development.
I’m juxtaposing Alderamin in the Sky with Classroom of the Elite because they both have intelligent writing and execution. Alderamin on the Sky actually surprised me the moment I sank into it. It has glorious action, an interesting story, decent other elements, and most of all—a splendidly lazy yet brilliant main character.

Interestingly, the plot is also intriguing, the character development is decent, and the animation is just spot-on. The reason why ‘Prison School’ is on this list is because of certain similarities it shares with ‘Classroom of the Elite.’ Both of these shows are set in a high school. These schools have strict rules that segregate students into groups. While in ‘Classroom of The Elite,’ the segregation is based on the students’ performance, in ‘Prison School,’ it is all about discipline and following school guidelines.
Hachimitsu Private Academy was recently made a coed school. It was previously the most prestigious all girl’s boarding school. Five boys have enrolled in the academy as a result. The current members of the all-girls underground student council are not too happy about the change and don’t like the idea of sharing a classroom with them. When they catch the boys peeping into a girl’s shower, they end up digging their own graves. They are then taken to school and sent to prison. If they behave well they can go to school. The students at the higher level get more respect and resources from the school, which the lower ones don’t. Both series have a main character who needs to gain points to get his class to the upper level.

Fumizuki Gakuen’s High School segregates its students into classes. Class A has prodigies, while class F is for losers. Class A students receive comfortable seats and air-conditioned rooms, but Class F students receive worn-out mats to sit. Akihisa Yoshii, a student of Class F, plans on getting his class to the upper level by making them use the fantasy creatures that his academy summons in a battle against the elites. First High School, a prestigious academy, trains students in magic. Students are placed in two groups according their scores on the entrance tests. The Weeds and Blooms are high performers. Hyakkaou Private Academy is a place where education isn’t really important. The school prepares students to face the real world. Regular courses are held during the school day. This is secondary and boring. Students gamble at high stakes during the night. The academy is a place where winning is the key to power. Yumeko Jabami is a student transfer at the academy. ‘Grisaia no Kajitsu’ is a harem anime. This anime is a harem manga, but it takes a different route than other harem ones. The anime is not trying to make girls fall in love, but it does have a logical build-up. The show is full of drama, but not as much comedy as you would expect from a show in the same genre. This anime is on my list because of the way that the characters are explored. Both ‘Classroom of The Elite’ and ‘Grisaia no Kajitsu’ focus a lot on the characters’ backstories, making them really complex and layered.
