Bodoro is an elderly man of muscular build with a mustache, pronounced chin and gray hair in a bun. He is often seen in the traditional robes of a Martial Artist.

HUNTERS EXAM ARC

Bodoro is the first to appear in the Hunter exam. He is one of 24 candidates who passed the 3rd stage with Rippo. Then, he moves on to the 4th stage on Zebiru island. He beat Ryu during this stage and is now qualified for the final stage.

Bodoro faces Hisoka in the final phase. Despite his fighting experience, he is unable to hurt the magician. Hisoka whispers to Bodoro and he surrenders. It is unknown what exactly they said.

His fight against Leolio gets delayed because Leolio won’t let him fight while he is hurt. However, Kirua interrupts the fight and abruptly stabs Bodoro in the chest, resulting in his death.

Interesting facts

• Bodoro, in the 1999 anime, shows signs of rivalry against Gozu during the Hunter exam. In the dramatic circumstances of Rippo’s “bonus stage” after the Tower of Tricks, in which Hanzo and Gereta save Gon from the tsunami, this rivalry is set aside.
• One theory suggests that Hisoka said to Bodoro, “If you don’t give up on me, I’ll fight for the children.” This is code that Bodoro uses to declare that he won’t fight with the kids (showing his love for them).
