Dragon Ball Z Sagas

Dragon Ball Z: Sagas 🐲 is a 3D adventure video game developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Atari, based on Dragon Ball Z. This game features a single-player adventure that takes you from the beginning of Dragon Ball Z and ends with the fight against Cell. You can play the game with up to two people. Dragon Ball Z: Sagas is the first and only Dragon Ball Z video game to be released on all six-generation consoles. It also happens to be the first American game developed and the first American Dragon Ball Z game to be released on non-Japanese consoles. The Xbox was the only Dragon Ball game that had it, with the other one being Infinite World.

Gameplay

Dragon Ball Z: Sagas is based upon battles on a three-dimensional plane. There are three basic styles of fighting: Melee, Combo, and Ki. Melee attacks are fast and often leave the opponent temporarily stunned. A combo is a sequence of punches or kicks directed at the opponent. It can be as many as 10 hits. Ki attacks use a rechargeable energy meter to provide energy bursts. Special moves are one of these special attacks. Characteristic techniques of some of the characters include The Kamehameha 💪.

Different game modes

  • Saga Mode: You can choose between the seven “sagas”, which are included in the game. It is also known as the “story mode”. You can get a variety of items within it. “Z-Coins” You can purchase various items such as upgrades and techniques for your character or series by clicking on them.
  • Pendulum Mode: This allows the player to select any level that he has not yet unlocked. It also allows him to choose from different characters, even if they are not part of the level (for instance, Trunks from the future in The Saiyan Saga).

Reception

The game received mixed reviews and was deemed a failure in sales. Among the criticisms the game received, those directed at the controls 💪, camera, presentation and lack of content (specifically, the lack of characters and Majin Boo: The Saga) stand out. Juan Castro of IGN described it as “far away from being as fun and functional as the Budokai Games” and said that it “completely fails the series to go in a different direction.” Ryan Davis of GameSpot stated that “it doesn’t seem like quality and relevance weren’t a priority when producing this game” as well that “the fact it’s being sold at full-price just makes it easy to ignore Sagas easier.”
