Hey guys! As you’ve heard, Kamisama Kiss is a manga series that features a wide range of characters. There are also some characters that are more popular than others. This list will highlight the most loved Kamisama Kiss characters ever.

Tomoe

Tomoe is cunning and sly, and seems unaware of his own beauty. However, he knows when to use his charms and handsome appearance to make others feel better. He has a tendency to mock others due to him not being able to trust others that easily, such as at the beginning of the series where he said that there was no way a human girl like Nanami Momozono could be a god. He was initially cold and condescending towards Nanami, but he eventually grew to love her and began to care about her. Tomoe has a lot of power and can use kitsunebi or fox-fire, as well as enchanted leaves to transform or control another.

He is quick-tempered and will shout at Nanami for being late or clumsy. He has a strong sense of loyalty and pride. He is also protective of the people he loves.

Nanami Momozono

Nanami is kind, gentle, understanding, and caring for all those she meets, even Yokai or bad people. It is not uncommon for Nanami to cry when things get difficult or when someone is in trouble. This has also been noticed by Yokai and humans who don’t like it when she cries.

She is also a strong, determined girl who will not give up no matter what the odds may be. Although her land god title can get her in trouble more often than she gets out, her wit and resourcefulness, along with some help from her friends, ensure that things turn out well.

She is fiercely protective and loving throughout the anime. Her optimistic and kind-hearted nature drives her to do what she can to help those in trouble, much to the irritation of Tomoe, her white fox familiar.

Mizuki

Mizuki had led a very sheltered life until he met Nanami Momozono, something Tomoe scathingly points out on more than one occasion. Mizuki is a skilled and manipulative person, despite his inexperience. He still loves Nanami and is jealous of Tomoe’s obvious affection.

He tried many times to create a wedge between them using different methods, but without success. He is extremely naive, and is shown to have a child-like wonder at the world and all its things. While his world has grown as he spends more time with his land god and his friends, he is still a happy, affectionate baby.

Kurama Shinjirou

Kurama is a very charismatic yokai and due to his popularity, very arrogant and selfish as well, seeing that he had attempted to catch and eat Nanami Momozono’s heart to become the Land God.

He was much more friendly with Nanami in school, just a few chapters later. Though he still fantasizes about becoming the Land god and befriending Nanami when they first met, it wasn’t as serious as it was then. After his encounters at Kurama Mountain, however, he stopped thinking about becoming a Land God. While he is still quite arrogant in front of his fans, he has become a reliable friend to Nanami.

Mikage

Although not much is known about Mikage’s adventure to become a land god (or how he became one), it is believed that he was a powerful and important god. It is evident that he sits in the Izumo god meetings. Though it has been proven that he was not “born” from the need of the human town that he once watched over (Unlike Yonomori Mitsuha) It’s also sometimes hinted that he is a “sibling” that Yonomori was talking about, considering the fact that they have the same hair color and also have the same humanity loving trait. Mikage once said to Tomoe that in order to protect humans that he had to be more loving towards them.

Hiiragi

She was very ill and near death during her mother’s pregnancy. Tomoe then stole the eye of the Dragon Lord and gave it to Yukiji. Nanami fed Yukiji even though they didn’t know each other. This allowed her to regain her health and gave birth to her child.

Yukiji was later killed. Hiiragi survived and had a daughter of her own. She passed on the Dragon Lord’s eye to continue the cycle. And in return, their daughters could only have one healthy daughter from each generation, as said by Nanami’s mother in Chapter 62.

Unari

Unari is described as a scary woman by those living below her. They fear Unari but understand that she is important as Unari keeps the sea safe. She protects her sea and makes sure that there are no evil yokai.

Unari, regardless of how she is perceived by others in the world, is quite self-conscious. She is lonely and fearful that people will label her ugly and not love her. Unari had promised herself that she would reveal her face only to the man she would marry. Mizuki later becomes this person for her (although it never became official, and it only happened for a short time) after he accepts Unari for who she is. Unari becomes happy, and she shows joy. She also cares very much for Mizuki, allowing him to leave when she notices that while she loved him, his most important person was Nanami, and was content with loving him and knowing that he is happy.

Otohiko

Otohiko is sometimes casual and sometimes can seem a bit insulting or melodramatic when speaking. Otohiko can be very girly when speaking with Ookuninushi, or just being present in Ookuninushi’s company.
