In Aot, Mikasa Ackerman is Eren Jaeger’s adopted sister. She owes a lot to him since she was saved from kidnappers who planned to make her a slave. She also spends much of the time with them. Even when she doesn’t always agree with his actions and does not always agree with him, she shields him from those who try to hurt him.

She, together with Armin, are part of the Scout Corps to aid Eren in taking back Wall Maria. She is thought to be an army genius and was the best of her class at the graduation ceremony for the 104th Training Corps.

Appearance Mikasa Ackerman

Mikasa is physically tough and has large, dark gray (almost black) irises and jet-black hair, with a lock that straddles her face. She initially had long hair, however Eren advised that she should cut it because he believed it was an obstacle during training. So Mikasa decided to cut her hair (apparently Jean liked Mikasa’s hair. However, when he saw that she was cutting it only because Eren advised her to, he felt anger toward Eren).

Mikasa is taller than 1.70 meters. Her eyes appear to have a constant state of peace and tranquility. Mikasa has a mark from an injury to her right cheek created by Eren (while changing into an enormous monster) in complete control of his actions attacked her. She wears the scarlet of black (red as in the anime) as a present Eren presented to her on the day he first met the girl (it was cold that day) which is why this object is extremely precious to her. She will never take off the scarf, except for hot days.

In the four years that have passed since the first discovery of the data within the cellar of the Jaeger residence, Mikasa has developed into a younger woman who has shorter hair and revealing her scar in greater detail.

Personality Mikasa Ackerman

Mikasa Ackerman changed her life drastically following the murder of her parents, becoming very shy, and when she reveals her past it becomes clear that Mikasa prior to the incident, was cheerful. But, she is everything to the people she loves, because she treats them as if they were family members. She is a firm believer of justice, and she will always follow Eren and will do everything to ensure his safety.

For instance, when he claimed her hair was way too long, she cut her hair off, even though Jean stated that it looked gorgeous as it was. Also, she swore at the soldiers who attempted to execute him, and then relentlessly attacked the Female Titan when she rescued him. In spite of her devotion to Eren, she is calm; even when she believed Eren was dead, she concentrated on keeping her family alive and refusing to give in to sadness, even though deep within she was devastated and was ready to give up. Then, in chapter 50, in which an evil titan is about to destroy her and Eren has given up, but Eren ultimately saved her life, and it could be said that in extreme instances, she will usually give up.

Eren offers her the Mikasa scarf after she saved her

It is important to note that her character is a result of Eren who inspired her to fight for her cause and never quit no matter what.

Mikasa is also known to blush or show embarrassment whenever people assume certain things regarding the relationship she has with Eren. She blushed when she said that no matter what division Eren was in, she would always be with him and attend the same place Eren went to.

She doesn’t take off the scarf Eren gifted her when they were children and the reaction she experienced when she discovered the fact that Eren is the one who helped her and her entire team live or during chapter 12, when the team head Ian Dietrich orders her to “Defend your boyfriend” causing Mikasa’s blushing, saying they were just brothers.

Skills Mikasa Ackerman

Due to the necessity to guard Eren, who is often looking for trouble, Mikasa had honed her abilities to become a skilled combatant at a young age. Relationships Mikasa Ackerman

PARENTS

Growing up in a world that made it difficult for her to interact with anyone other than her family and Dr. Jaeger, her parents were the only people she knew. She formed strong bonds with her parents. She believed that they were her only source of happiness in this world.

Her father and mother were extremely content to be with each other. When untrustworthy men murdered her mother and father, she was stripped of that joy that she would later return to Eren and the Jaeger family. The film Lost Girls, she is shown living content with her parents while her mother is expecting her first child.

GRISHA JAEGER

Grisha is the one who adopts Mikasa to be his child and treats her with love and respect. He wishes for Mikasa to become friends with Eren and to work with him.

CARLA JAEGER

Carla takes on Mikasa, treating her like her own daughter, and a member of her own family, and takes care of her. Because Mikasa has a quiet personality and is calm and not a reckless kind of person as Eren, Carla wants her to care for Eren and his recklessness.

EREN JAEGER

Mikasa is adamant about calling Eren part of her “family” since he saved her from kidnappers. She is always carrying an oversized scarf around her neck because Eren gave it to her after Eren saved her. She keeps it in her possession as a symbol of gratitude towards Eren for saving her in that moment. Her strength comes from Eren and she is driven to the limit to safeguard him and keep him out of trouble when needed.
As he reaches adolescence, Eren is irritated every time she gets extremely protective of him. She advises her not to treat her son as if he was their “son or little brother”. When Trost District is recaptured, Mikasa blushes when Ian inquires whether Eren is her partner, and even Levi is unsure of his love for Eren.

Eren was also a part of the Exploration Corps to be a part of Eren within that branch. When Dina Fritz’s titanic rage destroyed Hannes, Eren goes into trouble for not achieving anything, and Mikasa is grateful to Eren for giving her the chance to live, after rescuing her and placing the scarf on her. Eren, when he accidentally activates the force of the Coordinate in the face of the titan who killed his mother, vows to Mikasa that he is going to “put the scarf on her as many times as necessary forever” and fights to defend her.

The two develop romantically, however, the fate of Eren and duty did not allow for an intimate relationship between them. Eren says goodbye to him in an alternate world when, did not tell Eren the fact that she is part of his family during Marley (after Eren asked him what she thinks of him) She confessed that she was in love with him.

Eventually, they go off together to a place in Paradis and get away from everything for the remainder of four months of Eren’s existence together. Eren is embraced by Mikasa and asks her to let him go once she’s gone and to be happy and free, to which Mikasa says he will not accomplish this. Mikasa dismembers Eren and kisses her, stopping The Thunderclap and freeing the Founding Ymir from the burden.

Mikasa is buried by Eren on the mountain using the tree they spent their time in as kids. In the next three years after the rest of the boys return home to Paradis, Mikasa tells him that they’ll soon return to Eren. She then wishes to be with him again and then, while she cries her scarf is ripped off. A bird flies down then takes the scarf off and takes off. Mikasa recognizes the situation and thanks Eren for taking off the scarf.

ARMIN ARLERT

Mikasa is a close and trusted friend of Armin and vital because of his friendship with Eren. She appreciates his ability to think through issues when it comes to determining the most effective approach and determine the most effective strategy in difficult circumstances. She is committed to Armin and has a deep trust in him and this is evident when she refused to let him go to the grave in the Battle in the Trost District.

Mikasa takes care of Armin’s well-being, and, like Eren, she was known to defend him against local bullies. She encourages him in becoming more confident in himself when he doubts or self-criticizes himself. Eren along with Eren have been the ones responsible for encouraging Armin and providing him with confidence in difficult situations, such as when he is trying to confront soldiers and convince them of the value of Eren as a weapon for military use.

LEVI ACKERMAN

Their relationship began negatively when she was upset about the fact that in their military trials Levi had defeated Eren even though it was the only way that could help him. It was reported that their relationship did improve when they joined together to take down the Female Titan in the battle against Eren. She also was guilt-ridden for having Levi injured his ankle in the battle against her.

Their relationship came to an uneasy point during the battle at the Shiganshina district where Levi decided to apply his titan serum to help Erwin Smith and consequently allowed Armin to die. Mikasa confronted him about this decision, even up to the point of kicking him in order to take the liquid away from his body. The two have been demonstrated to be extremely effective as a unit, since they were able to simultaneously kill a number of people from the Anti-Human Suppression Squad in the Reiss Chapel without problems.

JEAN KIRSTEIN

From the time he first saw Mikasa, Jean has had romantic feelings for her. He has admired her dark hair and skills, however, Mikasa tends to be more or less uninterested in him. In casual conversations, Jean tends to blush and stutter when she is around Mikasa but that was not a reason to be encouraged when she rushed to save him when she was threatened by a titan.

However, Jean is not driven by her feelings, which isn’t even her hatred towards Mikasa’s dedication towards Eren which suggests that people don’t want to risk their lives in order to help Eren. This same love that was a major reason for the resentment that he feels toward Eren.

HANNES

Mikasa was said to have expressed gratitude to him for saving her and Eren from their fate as a titan which was set to devour them like children. Even though Hannes acknowledged that he was frightened to take on his titanic opponent, neither one of them has any resentment at him, despite his not saving Carla.

He is among the few people she has fond memories of happy times. He also encouraged her to never quit or surrender. In the event of her being seriously injured, he fought to protect Eren along with Eren from the exact monster that killed her mother. She was completely devoured by it. Mikasa appeared to be devastated about her loss.
