The First Hokage’s Necklace was a necklace that was worn by Naruto Uzumaki. It’s made of the special “Crystal Jewel” and was worn by the first Hokage, Hashirama Senju.

History The First Hokage Necklace

The first Hokage’s granddaughter, Tsunade, inherited it several decades prior to the first episode in the show. Then, she gave the necklace to her older brother Nawaki and later to her partner, Dan, in hopes that it would aid them in reaching their goals of becoming a Hokage. Both of them died within a few days of receiving the necklace in the Second Shinobi World War.

After the necklace returned to the hands of Tsunade, it was believed that it could be cursed. The thought was that Tsunade retained the pendant for herself over the next couple of years, as she lost confidence in people who wanted to become Hokage.

In the initial part of the series, Tsunade was introduced to Naruto Uzumaki in the first episode. Because of his desire to become a Hokage, and in addition, it led him to have a striking likeness with Nawaki and Dan, Tsunade decided to try to entice fate again, and made a wager with Naruto that should he be able to learn the art of Rasengan in the span of a week, and thus prove worthy of being a Hokage, she’d hand Naruto her necklace.

Naruto agreed and was able to complete the challenge, which led Tsunade to believe that Naruto was going to earn his title as Hokage and, consequently, she gave Naruto the necklace.

In the next part in the second part, after Naruto became agitated because he was in a four-tailed state, Yamato did an act of Hokage-style Sexagenarian Jutsu Kakuan Introduces Society to his Happiness Bearing Hands inspired by the Chakra of the previous Hokage who was lying within the necklace to stop Naruto’s transformation. Naruto using six-tails broke the necklace.

Then afterward, during the battle between Naruto as well as Pain, Naruto entered his six-tailed shape. This necklace activated to stop his transformation. However, due to the powerful effect of the nine-tailed, the necklace was destroyed by Naruto. Yamato declared that without the necklace it would be difficult for him to aid Naruto in stifling his nine-tailed chakra. But, this isn’t entirely true since Yamato once more tried to stop the transformation when they were at the Cascade of Truth without the help of that necklace.

One of the strengths of Hashirama was his power to manage a Jinchuriki, as well as Tailed Beasts. This was made possible through the help of this necklace that was able to respond to his chakra and allowed him to manage the energy of The creatures with tails.
