This article reviews the ending of the Netflix movie Under the Amalfi Sun and includes spoilers.

This Italian drama follows the lovers who are just beginning their adventure in The Riccione Sun (2020) for a chance to explore their relationship a year later. According to our review:

Camilla (Ludovica Martino) is back in Italy after completing her school year in Canada. The man she is with, Vincenzo (Lorenzo Zurzolo) is delighted to see her again and is eager to convince her to live with him. However, being together for the entire summer, and battling his blindness on the spot is quite different from a long-distance relationship, and it’s not known whether they’re ready for the task.

The film follows Vinz’s friend Furio (Davide Calgaro) who is trying to become more attractive to girls by enlisting the assistance of the local criminal Hans (Nicholas Maupas). Cami’s best friend Nathalie (Kyshan Wilson), who came along with her from Canada, has also been struggling with relationships after a bad encounter and new anxieties. As for Vincenzo’s mother, Irene (Isabella Ferrari) struggles to let her son enjoy more freedom and completely embrace her relationship with her partner Lucio (Luca Ward).

Under the Amalfi Sun (Sotto il sole di Amalfi) is an Italian-language Netflix Original romance directed by Martina Pastori that follows Vincenzo’s (Lorenzo Zurzolo) adventure in Amalfi with his partner Camilla (Ludovica Martino) who recently returned from a year in Canada as well as their best friend Furio (Davide Calgaro) and her new girlfriend Nathalie (Kyshan Wilson). His mom Irene (Isabella Ferrari) is away on vacation as well with her new companion Lucio (Luca Ward) and her ex-husband is attending the party (Andrea Occhipinti).

The film is generally sweet. It’s a love tale between Vincenzo and Camilla, sure, but it’s also a love story between many others, too. In all honesty, none of the other characters ended exactly as I was expecting them to, however, that didn’t detract from my satisfaction. It actually was more like the kind of thing one might expect from life: decisions that you would not take for yourself, but you’re able to accept. No matter who ends up in a relationship, I was pleased that the film spends an entire time on other characters than its main characters. I have nothing against both of them, however, I actually found Furio and Nathalie’s story and relationship more intriguing. It’s almost the same amount of screentime and I’d have been content if they were principal characters instead.

Vincenzo and Camilla’s battle generally, is the result of them not speaking to one another. An annoying trope in some cases but it’s at least tempered in some cases by their ongoing struggle of not trusting each other. Vincenzo is blind, and Camilla struggles with believing that he’s okay having to be unable to participate in certain activities or fully participate in other things. The way he is treated by Camilla never appears demeaning for him because her motives are so incorrect in the first place that you will never feel a single ounce of sympathy for her choice. This doesn’t mean that she’s poor either, since you can tell it’s wrong but for the right reasons at the very least.

However, Vincenzo has a hard time trusting that Camilla doesn’t always scold Vincenzo or make his decisions based on his ideas. If she behaves like she sometimes, and he is taught it constantly from his father, I’m not sure if he’s right. It’s an underlying trend that I’ve seen in stories of people who have different personalities learning that they are allowed to be content and believe that others are truly happy with them exactly as they are.

I also like how certain characters from the past are utilized, especially Lucio in order to show the ridiculousness that people are about their decisions regarding romance. Lucio is pretty much the sole person in the group who has absolutely no fault throughout the entire time and takes the brunt of the mistakes made by others. The fact that he is an integral part of other characters’ final decisions was a blast and makes him more than an additional plot element, but an individual with something valuable to contribute. I am also awed by how, the other character, Vincenzo garners the opportunity to give back the same thing to his mother. I’m not sure if I’ve ever thought she had much to do as her own character, outside of her relationships to Lucio and Roberto. However, the fact that she did get to be a self-sufficient woman and take lessons from Vincenzo at the end of the day was great.

This film is an update of The 2020 film The Under Riccione Sun, but it’s a great thing that you don’t have to be familiar with the first film in any way. It has a fantastic setting with great music, lovely clothes, and a few very earnestly-acted scenes that you can be awed by. Also, give a shout-out to the creator of the movie’s title logo. I love it.

Under the Amalfi Sun isn’t exceptional, however, a romantic summertime experience isn’t required to be considered a worthy time in an hour and a half. Put this on and enjoy a few moments and feel jealous that there’s no gorgeous beach.

After much debate, Camilla and Vincenzo decide to remain in love despite being offered teaching assistant positions in Canada. Vincenzo receives a single flight to Canada as well and is planning to travel together, after having confirmed their love and dedication to one another. The film closes with Camilla instructing him on how to ride a bicycle which was previously thought to be too difficult for Vincenzo.

Roberto, her ex-husband’s sudden visit, threw Irene off and made Lucio wonder whether she’s truly involved in their relationship. If he goes away and she follows Roberto’s assistance and informs him that she’s determined to keep their relationship. She also enjoys an emotional moment of telling her ex off.

Furio realizes that his love affair with Rebecca was not the best idea, and that she’s not as beautiful as he thought she’d be. He is now determined to become himself, and take a look at women’s appearances and personalities, he runs into a charming waitress, and develops a romantic relationship with her. Nathalie chooses to allow Hans another chance, after realizing that he’s suffered a setback in the past, and that his actions stem from previous betrayal. All is well with everyone being paired up together as happy couples.

Under the Amalfi Sun Ending: Do Vincenzo and Camilla End up Together?

Vincenzo as well as Camilla are the main couple in the fun travel film. At the beginning of the film, anticipation is high as Camilla arrives at Amalfi’s shores from Canada. Vincenzo as well as Camilla have been in a long-distance relationship for a long time. So, Vincenzo is ecstatic to be able to have Camilla at his side. Everyone is extra cautious around Vincenzo to avoid hurting his feelings or reminding him of his handicap. Vincenzo has visual impairments and, therefore, wears black glasses. When he takes an outing, Camilla calls up Irene. Irene is taking a surprise holiday in Amalfi with her fiancé Lucio, however, Vincenzo doesn’t know about the trip.

When Camilla is called, Irene reaches the scene within a matter of seconds. Vincenzo is upset that he must be guided everywhere they go. He’s beyond having bodyguards, however Irene is worried a little too much about Vincenzo’s health. Vincenzo is celebrating his birthday with Camilla at a private dinner date, however Furio provides more company. The next day, Camilla and Irene make an official acquaintance. But, Camilla is sitting on the biggest news of receiving an offer to teach assistantship at the Canadian college. Irene is aware that Camilla has goals to achieve and she wants Camilla to take her time before making a choice.

In the meantime, Camilla, Nathalie, Hans, Furio, and Rebecca are biking with their friends. Vincenzo is not invited because the bike isn’t his. But, through an acquaintance, Vincenzo gets to know that Camilla requested she take the bicycle. Vincenzo is furious because the man isn’t a fan of Camilla concealing details from him. He gets more angry when Vincenzo realizes that Camilla is scared of him. This isn’t something Vincenzo would like. When everyone seems busy, Lucio takes time out to offer Vincenzo the opportunity to dive.

The dive experience is awe-inspiring and reminds Vincenzo of the necessity to feel free. Vincenzo sends a text message to Camilla in which he asks for her to return to her dream. At the end of the day, the electrician injects some dramatics by shutting off the city’s lights. In an overcast moon, Vincenzo is taken by Camilla to the cave, and the experience is like a dream for the pair. Following the realization, we witness Camilla teaching cycling to Vincenzo. At the end of the day, they are able to find four tickets for one-way travel to Canada through Furio. After the reveal, it appears Vincenzo is moving back to Canada with Camilla and the family could follow his footsteps. So, a sequel appears likely.

Do Irene and Lucio End up Together?

His mother, Irene, has her own storyline. After a bitter separation from Vincenzo’s father Roberto, Irene is looking for new beginnings in her life. She’s always been scared to start anew. However, she seems to find the courage at the final. Irene arrives in Amalfi with her seasoned lover Lucio. They were planning to go to Sicily, however, Lucio altered their plans at the last moment. They can’t get a hotel room on the first night, and have to sleep on the road. But, the trip is certainly worth it. Lucio later admits that he had a desire to travel to Amalfi as he had tried to get Irene’s hand in marriage.

And Lucio wanted to do this while in front of Vincenzo as Vincenzo’s approval is crucial for Lucio. Following the dive, Vincenzo seemingly sides with Lucio and paves the way for the couple who are elderly to start their lives again. But, even after doing the best he can, Lucio is able to see Irene and Roberto being drawn to each other. He walks away before leaving the hotel and leaving a note to Irene. He promises to make it work. The brief, heartbreaking letter causes Irene to pursue Lucio. In a twist of destiny, Roberto drives Irene to Lucio’s yacht before it departs the dock. Irene is able to convince Lucio to let him off the boat and, in their final moments, they could end up being together.

Do Hans and Nathalie End up Together? Who Does Furio End up With?

Nathalie and Furio’s destiny seems to be a mystery towards the end, or is it? Nathalie is caught in a potential triangle together with Furio as well as Hans. While Hans is beautiful in the traditional sense with a beautiful jawline and a bit of attitude, Furio is the effortlessly hilarious one. From the start, Furio sets his eyes on Rebecca, someone who is in his league. When he’s not being treated with respect, Furio learns to stand his ground. On the bike tour, Rebecca asks Furio to snap a few photos of her, and then she disapproves of the pictures. Furio is angry at first, and Nathalie begins to develop a love for Furio. Nathalie also confides to Furio about her most ardent fears which include her weight, as well as her feelings towards Hans.
