In this article, we will exclusively discuss the third season of Bridgerton, so stay till the end to know the release date, cast, plot, production, and much more about Bridgerton season 3.
Bridgerton is one of the most-watched series on Netflix, based on the popular book by Julia Quinn. The third season of this series was initially confirmed in April 2021. Netflix also announced that season 3 is officially in development, while showrunner Chris Van Dusen announced that season 3 and season 4 would be officially revealed, so this was double good news for all the fans.
Since its release, Bridgerton has been a massive success for Netflix. Based on nine novels by Julia Quinn, the story follows the Bridgerton family and their eight children, each looking to find marriages in British high society.
The first season was released in December 2020 and broke Netflix viewing records, which is why people have been waiting so long for the sequels. Season 2 was also a smash hit, leaving fans around the world wondering when season 3 will be released. That’s why we’d like to take a look at not only the potential release date, but also everything we know so far about the dazzling period romance, Bridgerton.
But before we go any further, tell us if you like the new changes and who you are most looking forward to in the Bridgerton series? What happened in season 2? Before we speculate on what will happen in season 3, let’s take a look at what has happened in the Bridgerton story so far.
Bridgerton Season 2: Recap
Season 2 was based on the book The Viscount Who Loved Me, and the story followed Lord Anthony Bridgerton, the eldest of the Bridgerton siblings, as he seeks someone’s hand in marriage. Anthony courts Edwina Sharma, Kate Sharma’s younger sister, but ends up falling for Kate instead. Kate, meanwhile, is torn because she wants the best for her younger sister, but also loves Anthony.
Eventually, Edwina gives her blessing to her older sister, and Kate and Anthony end up finding true love. Along with this, we saw the Featheringtons welcome a new heir into their family, which caused a lot of interesting problems. And of course, we can’t forget to mention Penelope, whose secret was discovered by her best friend, and Penelope was heartbroken after her one and only crush said some not-so-friendly things about her.
All of these storylines seem to continue into the third season, as the second season ended with many questions and intriguing moments. Tell us what your favorite moment of the last season was? And is there anything you wish the characters had done differently?
Now let’s move on to the most important thing, and given the confirmation of the trailer released by Netflix, we can start speculating about the possible release date of Bridgerton season 3.

Netflix confirmed Bridgerton would see a season 3 (and 4 for that matter) on April 13, 2021. It hasn’t yet confirmed when Bridgerton season 3 will air, though. We would hope to see it in the first half of 2023, but it’s unclear for now.
Bridgerton season 2 aired on March 25, 2022, while season 1 aired on December 25, 2020. It’s therefore possible season 3 could appear anytime between the end of 2022 and the first half of 2023, though we would say 2023 is more likely.
Production has started though, as of July 21, with Netflix releasing a YouTube video to let us know.
Recently, on March 25, season 2 arrived on Netflix, so it looks like fans could be watching the third season in early 2023 on Netflix, just like seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 will have 8 episodes that will be an hour long.
Bridgerton Season 3: Cast
Casting News: It looks like Bridgerton will still have trouble keeping all of its stars in place. That’s because Francesca Bridgerton, the sixth child in the Bridgerton family, has been recast for next season. Originally, Francesca was played by Ruby Stokes, but she gave up her role as Francesca to appear in the upcoming Netflix series Lockwood & Co. Hannah Dodd is taking her place as Francesca. Hannah appeared in the Marvel movie Eternals and also starred in the Netflix mini-series Anatomy of a Scandal. In addition to Hannah, the Bridgerton family is opening up to three new cast members.
Daniel Francis will play Marcus Anderson, who is one of those characters you either love or hate. So we’re sure Marcus will create some fun interactions. Another member of the team will be Sam Philips, from The Crown. Sam will play Lord Debling, who the ladies love and swoon over, but who is too busy with his usual interests.
What are those interests? Well, you’ll have to watch TV to find out. We don’t want to spoil it. Finally, James Phoon will play Harry Dankworth, who is your typical muscle-bound type. We’re sure he’ll be ready to have fun. That’s all we’ve learned so far about the cast, but we’re sure that in the coming months we’ll be able to see some new faces.
Netflix has confirmed some of the cast for season 3 thanks to a production announcement video it posted.
Here is who will be cast in season 3:

Bridgerton Season 3: Plot
First of all, previous showrunner Chris Van Dusen will make way for Jess Brownell to take the helm. This may be the reason why Netflix announced that the series will not follow the book series to the letter, but rather that from now on, the series will choose different storylines from the different books in the series to create each season. That being said, the news that has been announced is that the next season will focus on Penelope, otherwise known as Lady Whistledown, who acts as the story’s narrator, and her potential love interest from the previous series, Colin Bridgerton.
Fans of the series know that Penelope leads a double life in the series, acting as both a prominent member of British society and as an anonymous writer, Lady Whistledown, who writes gossipy stories about all the mayhem that goes on in the Lady and Lord’s inner circle. Last season, she was heartbroken after hearing Colin say disparaging words about her, so now she’s determined to find a new love. Someone who will allow her to pursue her writing career.
Colin Bridgerton realizes what he has lost, because Penelope was the only person who truly loved him for who he was. This makes for an odd couple, as the two like each other and yet Colin is willing to help Penelope find the husband she wants. In addition to this messy and interesting situation, season 3 will also feature several subplots. There’s the whole friendship feud between Penelope and Eloise, who learned that Penelope was Lady Whistledown and felt betrayed by her friend.

Latest news
Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, and Luke Newton stopped by Netflix’s TUDUM on Sept. 24 to showcase the new season 3 cast while doing “Bridgerton sibling portraits.” Newton explained why it took Colin so long to realize that he and Penelope are meant to be together, while Claudia clarified that Eloise still hasn’t gotten over the fact that Penelope lied to her for so long about Whistledown.
But it was Coughlan who revealed the juiciest information, reading from Lady Whistledown’s first column of Season 3. There are a few “dazzling” candidates for the season’s diamond, but from what Coughlan revealed, we won’t focus too much on any of them.
The first two seasons of the series coincided with the timeline of the Julia Quinn books, but Netflix has confirmed that while they plan to expand each of the books into the series, Season 3 will not be in order in that sense. Season 3 will skip the third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, which details Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) journey to love, and instead move on to book 4, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which focuses on Penelope and Colin’s story. Netflix released the official synopsis below:
“From Shondaland and new showrunner Jess Brownell, Bridgerton returns for its third season and finds that Penelope Featherington has finally given up her longtime crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She decided, however, that it was time to take a husband, preferably one who would offer her enough independence to pursue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts in the marriage market fail spectacularly.
“Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer trips with a new look and a serious sense of daring. But he is disheartened to find that Penelope, the one person who has always liked him as he was, is giving him a hard time. Desperate to win back his friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope on confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start to work a little too well, Colin has to wonder if his feelings for Penelope are really friendly. To complicate matters, Penelope falls out with Eloise, who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her alter ego Lady Whistledown a secret.”
