Review of Fakes Season 1

Fakes is a Netflix series about two Canadian teenage girls who start and run one of the largest fake ID empires in North America. Zoe, a normal teenager trying to make it through high school and college, appears to be a regular teenager. Becca, the wealthy girl, is the life and soul of the party. She sees high school more as a social experiment than it is a learning environment.

Becca and Zoe are close friends at the start of the show. They have been best friends since the age of six. They are opposites and have different goals. Becca loves parties, has a boyfriend and is a fashionista. She comes from a wealthy background. Zoe is from a less fortunate family and is more focused on school. She is determined to get into a top college and creates a fake ID so that she can access college-level books in the library. She is a bibliophile.

Everything started with a fake library card. Zoe takes Becca to a party one evening and, on the way home, Becca spots the fake ID. Becca is amazed and curious to find out who Zoe is. Zoe admits that she created the fake ID after taking a short course online.

Becca quickly sees the potential for a lucrative business if Zoe’s talent and connections to the teenage party scene are used. After a few panic attacks and hesitations, Zoe decides to jump on the fake ID bandwagon. Becca introduces Zoe to Tryst. He is a typical small-scale drug dealer who also runs other shady enterprises. Becca and Zoe tell him about their new venture, and he agrees to become their partner.

Given the pressure they were under, it took a lot to get the girls to deliver their first order. It is likely that they will have to manage high school students and their ongoing problems with their families. They manage to keep the order in check, which is remarkable considering all they have experienced. You are wrong! They loved the adrenaline rush!

They decide to expand their business and Tryst offers to help them. They move into a new office, and they hire Sally and Sophie. Just as they were getting settled in, enjoying being bosses, and rolling in the dough, the long arm started to reach out to them. They thought they could get away. They are about to dance to the music as they face the consequences of their actions. But then a dark twist takes them deeper into the criminal underworld.

The Netflix series has some funny moments, and the cast does a great job portraying their characters. It used a risky, but interesting format to tell the stories. Each episode was narrated from a different perspective. The episodes alternate between the main characters, which allows viewers to see both sides of the story. It creates a “she said/she said” scenario which makes viewers question who was the real perpetrator of the crime.

It was fascinating to see how these characters struggled in their families. Because they come from broken families, I believe these girls can bond with each other and have a common understanding. The show did not explore Zoe’s relationship with her father, an alcoholic, and her mother’s denials that her son is becoming an alcoholic. The show only touched the surface of trauma, and it’s easy to see why Zoe is more grounded than her mother and is the responsible one.

Becca’s home situation isn’t as happy and pristine as you might think. Although she may be from a wealthy family, her lifestyle is not as comfortable as it could be. She doesn’t see her mom often and feels like her mom is wasting her time. Although her dad is there, they feel more like neighbors who share the same home. She thought that the fake ID was a way for her to prove that she is making a difference in her life.

Review of Fakes Season 1

As you delve deeper into Tryst’s character, you see a soft side to him. He is a father and tries to provide for his child. He dreams of his daughter but is not given a chance by anyone. To survive, he resorts illegally to robbery. Although he may seem indifferent to Guy’s girls, he did his best to protect them.

No one expected the show to take a dark turn. The show’s story is a teenage comedy-drama and the ending was devastating. The first nine episodes felt slow and the end felt rushed. It would have been better to only have five episodes and eliminate the unnecessary storylines. This show is mediocre at best.

What are Fakes Plot?

The trailer shows that what started out as two fake identification cards to purchase alcohol turns into an empire. Although Zoe (played here by Emilija Barranac) doesn’t believe anyone can make the cards, she succeeds in making them and impresses Rebecca (played here by Jennifer Tong). They try them out in a shop, only to be pointed out the fake address. They think about what they might accomplish if they keep creating fake addresses as they flee with their alcohol and cards.

They approach Tryst, played by Richard Harmon, and present their work to him. He estimates that he can move 200 cards. They seem to be printing the cards for him and selling them to a variety of customers. Their new business makes them a lot of money because they own a penthouse and cars. Their recent financial success has enabled them to throw amazing parties and look fabulous. They are young and everything seems to be going well.
