Who Is Karuizawa Kei?: Everything You Need To Know

Kei Karuizawa, a second-year student at Advanced Nurturing High School and one of the heroines in the You-Zitsu series, is Kei Karuizawa. She is the leading girl in Class D and is a prominent member of the class.

Appearance

Kei is a teenager girl of average height. Her blonde hair is pulled back in a ponytail, and her eyes are purple. The school uniform she wears is a light blue shirt with rolled sleeves and a short, white skirt. She wears standard school shoes and light blue calf-length socks. 

A blue ribbon is her preferred collar. She will wrap her school blazer around the waist of her casual outfit and roll up her sleeves to make it more casual. She takes great pride in maintaining a pulchritudinous exterior appearance. She is well-known in her class as one of the most stylish and fashionable students in her class.

Kei Karuizawa Personality

Kei is portrayed as a spoilt and lazy girl at the beginning of the series. After school, she spends her time with the girls and uses her points for clothes and accessories. Her strong personality, which she earned after just two weeks at the school, has made her a favorite and fearsome member of the class. She also holds the title of Yosuke Hirata’s girlfriend, and is respected and loved by the girls. She didn’t hide her savagery and was not ashamed of the compliments she received from others about her edgy moves on boys who caught her attention.

Kei, underneath her pompous mask she wears before people, is a girl who is haunted by ghosts from her past and can be sensitive to her surroundings. Although Kei gives the impression that she is careless, arrogant and messy, her true self is logical, astute, and has a sharp mind. She is able to see the world and make the right decisions. She is self-aware and knows more than anyone about her limitations and character. 

She has a cynical outlook on her environment and relationships. She thinks everyone hates her. She only became interested in her because of her position in the class. This makes her cautious about how she acts towards her friends, in order to keep them in good graces.

Kei is straightforward and outspoken when interacting with people she trusts. As you can see, she is very dissatisfied with Kiyotaka. She has also called out his lackluster sense of common sense in everyday matters, such as keeping the series alive.

Kei is a normal student at a unique school. She tries to live a normal life and has oodles of fun with her friends. Kei is obsessed with fashion and fancy things. This leads to her living a lavish lifestyle and spending money recklessly. She was able to overcome this mentality and saved herself a lot of points so that she wouldn’t be expelled. 

She has not shown any interest in academics and does not have a strong desire to go to a higher level. She is a terrible student and often abandons her studies to study for final exams. Due to her past, she didn’t have the opportunity to attend classes regularly in middle school. This is why her dislike of studying. Kei was unable to attain the theoretical middle school grade, making her high school experience difficult. She is willing to help her friends if they need it or if Kiyotaka orders her to do something.

Kei Karuizawa Background

Kei, a middle-schooler, was known for being a competitive and headstrong type. This unknowingly led to her making enemies of other girls and becoming the victim of cruel bullying. They stole her notes and scribbled in her textbooks. While she was using the toilet, they poured dirty water on her. They kicked and punched her while she was using the toilet.

Then they filmed it and shared it with everyone else for giggles. They stuck thumbtacks in her shoes, and put animal corpses on her desk. They once pulled her skirt down in front the class. They would hide her underwear, sometimes her whole uniform after swimming class. They made her confess to boys that she didn’t like. They would make her pick up trash from the ground and then eat it. She was sometimes forced to lick her shoes, which were the least disturbing of all the experiences she had to endure.

Kei was humiliated, humiliated, and then more humiliating experiences that led to a deep psychological scar and the destruction and loss of her self-image, which eventually led to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Kei came to this school looking for redemption. She acted arrogantly in order to appear strong and big, and to be tough to avoid being bullied again.

Kei’s trauma led to a very bizarre mindset. She was driven to protect herself against any type of abuse or intimidation. No matter the cost or sacrifices, she did so. Ayanokouji Kilitaka tried to blackmail Kei by confronting her about her past. To protect her secrets and her place at the school, she even offered her body. 

She said that this wasn’t her first instance of being used forcefully against her. She could cry, scream or thrash about, but it didn’t matter. She was the victim of everyone, which made her cold and robotic. Despite all the pain she’d suffered, she was determined to fight back and would not give up.

Kei is a clingy, highly valued person who uses the position and status of others to help her survive at school. She has come to see herself as a parasite. A weak creature that cannot survive on its own. 

Many naive girls seek her advice about romance because of the fake persona that she has created. She admitted that she had never been in a relationship with another man, but she was able to fool them through lies and fictitious stories.

Kei Karuizawa Abilities

Kei was deemed to be below the school standard. She was placed in Class D because of her frequent unexplained absences, below-average grades in middle school, and her inability to focus on academics. Kiyotaka concluded that if she worked hard and for a short time she could easily achieve significant improvements in her OAA like Ken Sudo.

Both Kakeru Ryuen and Kiyotaka Akyanokoji believe that Kei is a strong mental force and has a will to conquer all challenges. Kiyotaka was surprised to see her show the greatest loyalty in the most difficult of times when all seems against her. Normal people would have given up after going through a fraction of the things she has. However, she persevered and found true happiness with Kiyotaka. 

She is determined and will do anything to help Kiyotaka, sometimes even surprising herself at how willing she is to go the extra mile for him. Despite all the seemingly impossible difficulties, she has proven to be able to stay positive and not get depressed for very long periods. The last straw to break the camel’s back is Kiyotaka betraying her.

He believes it could be her final and most damaging moment. She also feels the same sentiment. Kei, who has been dating Kiyotaka for several months, has developed the ability to detect subtle changes in the emotions, expressions, and atmosphere of others. Kei has been able to predict the thoughts of the mysterious and stoic Kiyotaka, which she did repeatedly.

This amazed him as she could read him like a book. She scared him when she thought she knew his family tree. They are also so close that they can understand each other’s eyes and their words even if they only glance at each other for a few seconds. Suzune is observant, but she still has difficulty understanding his true intentions, despite being closer to him for a longer time.

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji

Suzune asked Kiyotaka to join Yosuke on guard duty during the survival test. He was to look after the boys. Kei noticed that he was invisible to the rest, which showed that she barely recognized his presence during their time as classmates. It is not known what his true thoughts are about her, as he has kept them secret multiple times.

Yosuke Hirata

She seems to have developed a trusting and close relationship with Yosuke from the very beginning. She was seen to have supported Yosuke’s idea of having students present themselves before the ceremony when the school was first established. They were often seen together after a few days at school. They were only pretending to be in a relationship to keep Kei from being bullied at school.

Suzune Horikita

The series doesn’t see them interact much early in the series, and they don’t seem to be on good terms because of their differing personalities.

Episode 7: She was quite rude to Yosuke and said that they should leave in order to spend less time than is necessary.

After Yosuke had been selected by Kei to supervise the class’s boys, Suzune intervened. Although she didn’t object to Kei’s request that Yosuke watch the boys, Suzune requested that another boy be assigned to guard duty. He also needed to be monitored. Suzune chose Kiyotaka after Kei said that no other boy seemed trustworthy.

They have only limited interactions in the novels. However, Kei did see Suzune once and suggested that she open up to Kiyotaka if ever she wants to develop a friendship with him. She should also expect that if she keeps him away, the same thing will happen to her. Suzune was surprised by her words of wisdom and decided to speak up about Kiyotaka to get to know him better. Kei, along with her friends, left shortly thereafter. She was indifferent to Suzune’s opinion. 

Kikyo Kushida

At least on the surface, Kei and Kikyo appear to be in good terms. Episode 2: Kei borrowed private points from Kikyo after she had exhausted her funds. She seemed desperate to get points and used their friendship to make it happen. However, it seems that Kikyo did not agree to the request. Kiyotaka exposed Kikyo’s true character and she changed her mind. She now prefers to see Kikyo expelled.

Satsuki Shinohara

Satsuki is Kei’s friend in Class 1-D. They can often be seen interfacing in anime with one another and getting along well.

Maya Sato
