Chrollo Hatsu Hunter X Hunter : the complexities of Skill Hunter Nen

Chrollo Hatsu Hunter X Hunter : the complexities of Skill Hunter Nen

Chrollo Hatsu

Today we are here to focus on a certain Chrollo Lucifer from our beloved phantom troupe because a funny question crossed my mind about the complexity and limitations of his hatsu.

and this is a very interesting question but it led to an even more important question that emerges from me. which is whether there are net abilities in general that Crollo can not steal and it turns out that yes.

In this topic, in some cases, I will deliberately confuse the fact of stealing nen and reproducing nen steals. Because for me if you steal a nen, it is to be able to reuse it.

What are the Hatsu that Kuroro cannot steal?

yes, there are and more than you might think, there are a mind-boggling amount a ton of hatsu that are simply immune to being stolen by the skill hunter for a ton of different fun and technical reasons and we’re going to start this exploration with a quick round of skill hunter or skill blunder.

what is chrollo’s unable to steal ? is it netero’s techninque buddha ? or another of these cheater techniques with weird conditions that I will list below?
I’ll let you discuss it in the comments. But why for example, should Netero’s technique be immune to the skill hunter?

immune well to understand this we need a quick rundown of the conditions the skill hunter must meet there are four criteria to check in order to be able to steal an ability.

What are the conditions of the Chrollo Hatsu Skill Hunter?

  • First, Kuroro must witness the ability with his own eyes.
  • Secondly, he must ask the owner of the ability a question about the nen and have him answer.
  • Thirdly, the owner’s ability must touch the cover of the bandit’s secret book. of the bandit and finally all of this must be accomplished within the allotted time of one hour and on top of that even once an ability is taken crollo must then fulfill all the native conditions that the hatsu may require in order to be able to use it which is problematic in more than one case.
  • And a fourth one that has the most restrictions which we will talk about later

Kuroro can’t steal Netero’s ability

Let’s stop for a while our first criterion being that Chrollo must witness the ability with his own eyes, that’s why it would be impossible to steal Netero’s bodhisattva. because when Netero activates it, the ability moves faster than the human eye can understand.

Kuroro can't steal Netero's ability

Even Neferipitou, a chimera with divine reflexes, had no understanding of what happened to them after falling victim to Netero’s power, so it is more than safe to say that unless Netero wanted to show off unnecessarily, Chrollo would not be able to see this hatsu in action and thus would not be able to steal it.

Let’s assume that in a friendly setting, Netero allows him to meet the 4 criteria.
Chrollo can theoretically use this ability if he can meet the conditions and limitations.

The problem is that Guanyin type 100 has not really been explained in detail. All we know is that to activate it, it is to “pray”, the word “pray” is still vague, because there are different types of prayer, I guess, Netero “pray” to “Give thanks, to satisfy”

Chrollo can't steal Netero's ability

Also, I don’t think the speed of Netero’s prayers is part of his ability. It is due to his suicidal dedication. And his sincere feelings of gratitude to nature and the martial arts. So while the ability could theoretically be stolen, I think it would be very weak or impossible for him to use it effectively because Chrollo doesn’t have the same dedication, so even if he could use it, the speed would be much slower.

Also, Netero’s Hyakushiki Kannon may require more aura output than Chrollo is able to summon. In this case, it would depend on whether a stolen ability would deviate from Chrollo’s own skills (in which case he could simply summon a smaller statue) or replicate the original user’s (in which case he might not summon the statue).

Probably a new question to discuss!

Chrollo can’t steal Pakunoda’s hatsu

Chrollo can't steal Pakunoda's hatsu

there are also several other abilities that fall into this technicality within the phantom brigade itself, in fact Pakunoda’s psychometry ability would also be immune is because the power takes place entirely within Pakunoda’s mind.

You know she touches someone reads their memories and it’s kind of like there’s no visual evidence of any ability taking place.

Kuroro can not steal the Hatsu of Tsierriednich

Kuroro can not steal the Hatsu of Tsierriednich

We have a very similar situation regarding the “parallel future”, the disturbing and powerful hatsu held by the even more disturbing fourth prince Tsierriednich. it allows him to look 10 seconds into the future and then modify his own actions to change that future.

if you’re a Jojo fan it’s more or less… more or less King Crimson and if you’re not… not, then listen I’ll go into more depth in another post.

But again Chrollo is unable to see this in action. in fact no one can see a parallel future except Tsierriednich.

Another problem would be even the basis of Tsierriednich’s technique which is an advanced form of Zetsu, a bit like the “IN” so is the parallel future still a hatsu? or is it a Zetsu?

Kuroro can not steal the Hatsu of Tsierriednich

I’d like to bring up the idea that a very skilled user could also conceal their abilities with “IN” and provided Chrollo isn’t using a highly concentrated “GYO” at the time, it could prevent your abilities from being seen.

I wouldn’t count on that, kuroro is a bit too cunning to be fooled by something like that. the vision thing is just one skill in the skill hunt.

Chrollo can’t steal Komugi’s Hatsu

Chrollo can't steal Komugi's Hatsu

But the next one is also quite restrictive, kuroro has to ask a question about the nen and get an answer from the owner of the desired hatsu.

because there are several cases in hunter where a potential victim has no knowledge of nen and is therefore unable to answer any question.

Of course, this is reminiscent of Komugi’s Gunky ability, in case he really wants to take it and become a kind of invincible master of the trigger.

In this case, certainly strange the ignorance of Komugi’s nen will have saved her in this encounter.

Can Kuroro steal the abilities of the nen beasts ?

Can Kuroro steal the abilities of the nen beasts ?

So there is a profound life lesson for you knowledge is as much a curse as a blessing and the same could be said for Leon’s initial question, question about the guardian beast nen held unknowingly, I might add by most of the Kakin princes, this might change in the future.

But for now the vast majority of them know little or nothing about the nen. Their bodyguards are currently engaged in a crash course thanks to Mr. Kurapika.

But the princes themselves remain safe. Ironically, it is the main protagonists of the war of succession who would be most likely to have their guard nen stolen.

Namely the first Prince Benjamin, the second Prince Camilla and the fourth Prince Radnick who all now have at least a basic understanding of NEN and who knows?

This might be relevant since the Phantom Troupe is aboard the Black Whale and is involved in these sorts of weapons affairs.

Can Chrollo use the nen of nen users with a particular physique?

Can Chrollo use the nen of nen users with a particular physique?

the third condition is what I would call the most restrictive but being that the victim has to touch the cover of the bandit’s secret book with his palm and this palm is quite specific and important, because there are nen users in hunter hunter who don’t have.

how to say… the necessary equipment to accomplish and it refers more or less to a selection of chimera ants, ikalgo for example.

Indeed, he only has tentacles but no palms so Chrollo can’t steal his fleedom or undead dollshatsu and even if he could he probably wouldn’t want to. Because I don’t see Chrollo climbing into a corpse in order to control it.

Meanwhile, another example would be Bloster or Brovada, he has lobster claws and they shoot bullets, kind of like Franklin’s ability.

actually, but very unfortunately or fortunately I guess it depends on who you are, lobster claws are not palms, so that’s… another ability that cannot be stolen by our leader.

the phantom troupe guy now for the skill hunter that has to do everything in an hour, I couldn’t find anything that would counter that condition specifically but there are some individuals that would make it a little awkward.

Can Chrollo use the nen of nen users with a particular physique?

Like for example Cheetu because he can be very difficult to catch in an hour, but if anyone can get away with it, it’s probably Chrollo’s mind.

Cheeto’s struggling grey matter could result in involuntary immunity.
Chitu may very well be so stupid that even Chrollo can’t predict the horrible course of action he’s going to take… but what we’re going to do now are more vaguely questionable hatsu abilities.

hatsu abilities that are hard to see. Kuroror would have a hard time using them even if he did steal them.

Kuroro’s nen problem with transformation type hatsu

Kuroro's nen problem with transformation type hatsu

And the first of these is anything to do with body transformation.

Body transformation many characters hold a power similar to this one, like Biscuit, but we also saw it used by Gon and even taken to the extreme by chimeras and others like Zazan.

because these are so individually based on physicality, it’s hard to say if Chrollo would be able to use them.

although i like the idea of stealing Biskuit’s Hatsu, and seeing Krollo turn into a super cute chibi.

meanwhile other nen abilities are just a global no. in this regard, we need look no further than the phantom troupe with bonolov and his battle cantabra series in order to activate any of the cantabular abilities that bernoullinov needs to play a beautiful music via the corridors of his body.

Kuroro's nen problem with transformation type hatsu

So while they admit that Kuroro can certainly steal these abilities, he would still be unable to meet the requirements to actually use them because Kuroro’s body is not the finely tuned sacred instrument of bonolenov and then there are some simply funny ideas like Pike and his love shower ability once again easily stolen by Kuroro.

But would he be able to or even want to use it because in case you forgot, the love shower is basically the power to make a web come out of your anus something that is helped by Pike’s physique.

Kuroro's nen problem with transformation type hatsu

Pike’s physique as a spider and crawler doesn’t have the natural infrastructure to comfortably pull something like this so it doesn’t seem like a nice ability for a human to use.

this ability, but there are… even minor questions that arise in regards to things like Dr. Blyth. part of this ability is the restriction that the nen beast is directly connected to Pito via its tail, so if Crollo were to pick it up, will the caterpillar have a tail that will grow on him… as part of this ability or simply not have the physical condition to summon

Chrollo can not reproduce the Hatsu of Melody after the Steal.

Kuroro's nen problem with transformation type hatsu

Questions, never, so many questions and physical restrictions are not even all because there are also a plethora of hatsu that are uniquely difficult to use and I would first like to point out the enchanting music of Melody as one of them.

This ability allows Melody to influence the emotions of those who listen to her music and even relieve fatigue. However this power works entirely on the basis of Melody’s pure passion for music in combination with her technical skills as a musician.

so of course Kuroro once again you can steal the power, but if he has no passion for music or skill with a particular instrument then it will have little or no effect.

Although I can imagine a situation where Chrollo takes the hatsu from Melody.

Kuroro can’t steal Kurapika’s emperor time with Skill Hunter

Another one that is also infinitely questionable is… Kurapika’s emperor time and that is because of the inaccuracy of the nen which is…

this is the great pleasure and frustration of Hunter Hunter, I suppose. because it is not clear whether or not the possession of the scarlet eyes is required as part of the condition to activate the emperor’s time and its most basic interpretation:
all the scarlet eyes allow Kurapika to do is become a specialist and then the emperor’s time is a completely separate power. But nen is not necessarily that simple especially with regard to Kurapika and his crazy series of restrictions and especially with regard to the kurta eyes which are a magical, bizarre aberration of the Hunter Hunter world.

Skill Hunter can’t steal Camilla’s Nen

Skill Hunter can't steal Camilla's Nen

Regarding the emperor’s time eyes it is questionable while other abilities are just impractical, one of my favorite niche nin abilities is a very very recent one in the manga Hunter X Hunter. which is held by Camilla.

Camilla’s group come from a very poor and persecuted section of the Kakin empire. and as a result, they have developed this phenomenon of societal incapacity known as yamatsuhegui which, in simple terms, is a curse.

a cursor does bad things to its targets one of these bad things being potentially death, but it is extraordinarily complicated to achieve first the user has to carry an object connected to his target, like a picture and with this object he needs a dagger then the user has to think about this target every day until he wants to reach it.

Chrollo Can He Steal Enhancer Abilites Nen ?

Now let’s get to the main headache and mystery of Chrollo’s Skill Hunter.

I was looking at the list of abilities he stole and I noticed that none of them fall into the enhancement category.

There are a few that could be transmutation or emission but there is absolutely nothing that falls into the enhancement category so I was wondering why this is the case?

It’s possible that Chrollo has copied some enhanced abilities, but we just haven’t seen him use them, but I really don’t think that’s the case and so we’ll talk about that. So yeah let’s start :

There are three possibilities that I can think of as to why we haven’t seen Kuroro do it yet:

  • The first one is that we can’t and it’s just a limitation of his hatsu ability.
  • The second possibility I can think of is that he is able to steal their abilities, but he can’t steal the efficiency of the ability owner.
Chrollo Can He Steal Enhancer Abilites Nen ?

Let’s say he steals Uvogin’s Big Bang impact and since he’s a specialist, he would only be 40% effective in that category, so it would be much weaker than Uvo’s and would require much more aura.

  • The third possibility I can think of is that Chrollo is quite capable of using an Enhancement type ability, but he prefers not to, it’s not his thing, it’s not his preferred fighting style.

I think that’s unlikely because Enhancement is the most balanced category in terms of attack and defense and it even gives you higher recovery abilities.

So for someone smart like Kuroro, you could certainly find a use for it, it could help him in many situations, for example when he fought Silva and Zeno.

He knew that he was unable to resist Zeno’s Dragon Lance attack, but if he had been able to open his book and turn to a page where there was a reinforcement type ability, then maybe he could have blocked it.

What I just said about him not being able to steal the effectiveness of the owner of the ability over the ability, I’ll save that for another theory and so I really wanted to talk about my first idea which was that it’s just a limitation of the bandit secret.

and what I’m presenting here is a speculation on why I think that might be the case so let me do that.

so why would Rolo be able to steal any ability from any user of men except enhancement?

The reason I came up with is that enhancers don’t really use special abilities per se, they use the fundamentals of nen taken to the highest level so taking away and by extension stealing someone’s ability to use enhancement is kind of like taking away their ability to use their nen.

For example, there is Gon’s jan ken in particular, his rock technique which is essentially and as it says on hunterpedia. the rock technique is essentially the advanced technique called “KO” with additional conditions that he has to leave himself vulnerable in a “ZETSU” state for an extended period of time to charge the ability and because he does that, he takes the risk that the magnitude of the ability will increase more than a normal cone attack, but given that janjanken is essentially “KO”, what does that mean?

Chrollo Can He Steal Enhancer Abilites Nen ?

It means that you combine TEN ZETSU and REN because well, every time you use then, you use TEN and ZETSU.

In other words, when you use KO. you use like ZETSU on all the other parts of your body besides the part where you concentrate your aura, and then obviously you use REN because you produce more, and you normally increase the amount of aura in the part of the body where you choose to concentrate it.

So taking away someone’s ability to use KO takes away their ability to use TEN – so I like the fact that Chrollo’s secret Skill Hunter bandit ability is already broken.

But if he could directly take away an enhancer’s ability to use KO, that would be a whole other level of broken, so that’s my theory in a nutshell.

I think there could be exceptions to this rule. It is possible, but unlikely that Kuroro could steal an enhancement type ability, if it is complex enough and you can steal it without taking something else from the victim’s nen.

What Enhancement Nen Chrollo Could Steal ?

I can think of two abilities that we have seen so far in the series, including in the manga.

I can think of two enhancement type abilities that Chrollo might be able to steal, even if my theory about him not being able to copy most of them is true.

What Enhancement Nen Chrollo Could Steal ?

This is Gido and her ability to enhance spinning tops, there are two abilities that do this, there is also “battle waltz” and “gun blues”, these abilities use both enhancement and manipulation, so I was thinking that because she also uses manipulation, you could take away her ability to manipulate spinning tops, but not her ability to use enhancement as a whole, maybe that is possible, I don’t know.

Then there is Bill, the only other bodyguard besides Kurapika who guards the Mobile Prince in the current arc.

What Enhancement Nen Chrollo Could Steal ?

Bill has an ability called Eragon that can accelerate the growth of living things, so again, I think it may be an ability that, yes, is enhanced, but so complex that it can be secretly stolen by Chrollo’s skill hunter.

Obviously, there is uncertainty about this and I wonder if Togashi thought about it that much and I wonder if it will ever be confirmed.

Conclusion

Pic Credit : Ramideaa

My conclusion is the following and I have prepared a portfolio of statement although it is not confirmed it is likely that Chrollo cannot steal the enhancement abilities, as this would prevent them from using nen as a whole.

However, it is possible that there are exceptions to this rule a complex and responsive ability or an enhancement ability that uses another category of nen could be stolen by Skill Hunter.

For the case of the other abilities, yes he can steal it if he can meet the 4 criteria of his skill hunter. But we have seen that some of them don’t even prevent the criteria from being fulfilled.

Then there are different factors like the configuration of the body or even if he can see to have a mind compatible to this nen.

Skill Hunter is a more complicated nen than it seems and almost impossible to use it in combat against an experienced nen user
