Demon Slayer All there is to know

“The Demon Slayer Blade” is a manga written by Koyoharu Gotoge. This story is about Kamado Tanjiro, who seeks a way for his little sister Nezuko to become human again after she was transformed into a demon.

The manga was published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from February 15, 2016 to May 18, 2020. It is now compiled into 23 volumes. Panini Manga published the first French edition of the manga between August 2017 and January 2018 under the title The Prowlers of the Night. A new edition, with the current title, appeared in September 2019.

Studio ufotable adapts the series under the title Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba. The 26-episode premiere season airs initially between April 6 and September 28, 2019. It adapts The Evolution of Kamado Tanjiro as a saga. The animated film Le Train de l’Infini, which was released October 16, 2020, follows. The film’s seven-episode adaptation will air in October 2021. The second season of animated series, which adapts the Pleasure Quarter story arc, will air in December 2021 to February 2022. In February 2022, a third season is announced, adapting the Blacksmiths Village arc.

In October 2021, a video game called Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles was also released. In 2019 and 2020, Demon Slayer was the most-sold manga in Japan. In February 2021, the total number of copies sold by the franchise was 150 million. The anime film is Japan’s highest-grossing movie. According to reports, the profits from sales of the franchise in Japan have reached at least 270 billion Japanese yen ($2.6 billion) by December 2020.

Synopsis

Tanjiro Kamado, the first child of a charcoal merchant family in Taisho-era Japan, sells charcoal to the village below to help them. They manage to find some happiness despite the hardships of their lives. Due to rumors of a man-eating demon lurking around after dark, he ends up spending the night with a Good Samaritan.

But everything changes when he returns to the village and notices a strong bloody smell. He rushes home to find his family dead. Nezuko is one of his sisters and the only survivor. Tanjiro takes her along to get her to a doctor to save her. She regains consciousness and attacks her brother, but she still shows signs of emotions and thoughts. Giyu Tomioka, a Demon Slayer, arrives to help eliminate the demons plaguing the area.

Giyu notices Nezuko’s unusual behavior as he attempts to kill her. Instead of trying to devour him, Giyu tries to intervene to stop Tanjiro from attacking him. He is killed. He had defied his duty to save Nezuko and so decides to sheathe his sword to end their fight. Giyu advises Tanjiro to go to Sakonji Urokodaki, his master, to learn to be a Demon Slayer. He then begins his quest to find an antidote to make his little sister human again.

Characters

Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro, the first child of a charcoal salesman, lives in the mountains with his mom and siblings. He takes care of their family as best he can after the death of his father.

His family is killed by a demon, and his younger sister Nezuko is reborn. He travels with Nezuko to find an antidote to turn her back into a human.

Nezuko Kamado

Nezuko, the first daughter of a charcoal seller, is also one of Tanjiro’s younger sisters. Apart from the former, she is the only survivor from their demon attack, even though she was turned into one of their own. She retains her memories and her feelings towards her brother. These hold her back from her murderous impulses.
