Dormammu is a maniacal, evil cosmic being who desires to rule and conquer all worlds. Dormammu is a constant threat to Earth and all those, good or bad, who would defend it from galactic terrors. He has malicious minions at his disposal. He rules the Dark Dimension and is always plotting new ways of overtaking our world, subjugating humanity, or increasing his power.
He and his sister Umar, who were energy beings known as Faltines, lived thousands (or maybe even millions) years before Dormammu knew anything about Earth or wanted to rule it. Umar and Dormammu were both driven from their home dimensions after Sinifer was killed. They assumed material forms and explored the multiverse before they settled in the Dark Dimension, a magical realm that combines multiple realities into one domain.
The Dark Dimension’s various denizens were at peace for nearly 28,000 years, and the region was still under the control of King Olnar. Dormammu cleverly infuriated Olnar before finally capturing control and dispatching him. Dormammu, while he was ruling, absorbed the Dark Dimension’s power to become a being full of pure energy. He was king and made allies and enemies, waged war against other realms and also created pacts.
Odin of Asgard, the embodiment of Eternity, joined Dormammu to exterminate an occult Juggernaut called Zom from a netherworld Amphora. Dormammu then turned his attention towards Earth and participated in the creation Earthly demon-lord Satannish. However, his plot was foiled by Agamotto the first Sorcerer Superior, who used the powerful Eye of Agamotto and the mysterious Staff of One amulets.
Umar would become insane after giving birth to Clea. Dormammu would send his troubled sibling to a pocket dimension and take Clea along with her father Orini (King Olnar’s) into his dark service.
