The Multiverse of Madness: Doctor Strange is out! This means the plot has been revealed, so fans can expect some surprises. The film’s biggest surprise is that Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff, is actually the antagonist. Her primary goal was to capture America Chavez, and then take her multiversal travel power as her own. This would allow her to be with her children in another world. What happened to Scarlet Witch after the Multiverse of Madness ended? Did Wanda Die ?
Scarlet Witch is believed to have died in Multiverse of Madness after she gave her life to end the darkhold and all its variants in other universes. We cannot confirm that Scarlet Witch is dead, as sources claim that her contract with Marvel has been extended for seven more years.
There is no way to know for sure if Wanda Maximoff has died, unless Marvel Studios confirms it. Although her death in Multiverse of Madness may be an opportunity for her to atone, there’s still much to learn about her character. Let’s take a look at Scarlet Witch’s story.
What happened to Scarlet Witch at the End Of Multiverse Of Madness
Trailers for Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness teased us about the possibility of Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff working together throughout the film to resolve a multiversal menace that could change not only one universe’s fate but the entire multiverse.
The truth is that Scarlet Witch was the movie’s main antagonist. She wanted America Chavez to be captured so she could take her powers and use them for herself. Wanda wanted America to be able to travel between dimensions and worlds in order that she could spend time with her children. WandaVision introduced the darkhold, which weakened her mind.
The movie was basically about Doctor Strange and America Chavez travelling from one dimension to the next to escape Wanda’s wrath. Scarlet Witch, a dark-eyed witch, used the power to possess Wanda from the other universe and chased them around, using her power of the darkhold. She eventually acquired America Chavez, and sent Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer to a broken universe.
Doctor Strange eventually used the darkhold to break the universe to cast a spell that enabled him to use the body and mind of the dead Defender Strange in universe 616. This universe is the one of the main MCU timelines. Scarlet Witch tried to take America’s power away by attempting to drain it from America, but the zombie Defender Strange was able temporarily to stop her.
While Wong was trying keep Wanda away, Strange convinced America she could control her powers, and she could use them against Scarlet Witch. She used her powers to access the universe of Wanda and her children. Wanda from the other universe and her children who were scared of her made her realize she was a monster.
Wanda realized that she had become the evil she worked so hard to eradicate when she was with the Avengers. She gave Wong permission to flee with America. While she was there, she destroyed the entire darkhold shrine. This effectively ended all darkholds in other universes, so no one would ever be tempted again by the darkhold.
Wanda took the correct decision and destroyed the object that had corrupted. She destroyed the darkhold to try and atone for her mistakes from WandaVision, when she held a whole town hostage so that she could play house.
Wanda Maximoff Did She Really Die at The End Of Multiverse Of Madness Or?
Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness ended with Wanda Maximoff realizing that her mistakes had led her to become a monster who didn’t care if she lost her life to reach her goal. To ensure that it never happens again, she had to gather the whole darkhold around her.
Wanda Maximoff died at the end of Multiverse of Madness. Was she able to survive the destruction by the darkhold?
Given that the movie ends with a large structure falling on Wanda’s head, it is difficult to know if Wanda survived. We do know that Wanda may not be seen again in the MCU.
According to reports, Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff in the movie, renewed her contract at Marvel Studios in March 2022. According to rumors, her Marvel contract extension is for seven more years. This could mean that Wanda Maximoff could appear in additional movies and series.
This could also indicate that there may be a standalone Scarlet Witch movie, or something similar to House of M. Marvel would love to make the most of her seven-year tenure as the most beloved female character in the MCU.
It is possible to assume that Wanda Maximoff survived the destruction of her darkhold and is still alive. It is possible that Wanda Maximoff was only 616 and died in the Multiverse of Madness. She might come back as a different version of her self from another universe. The MCU’s general public should be more open to Wanda coming from another universe than the 616 Scarlet Witch who basically killed countless people during the events of Multiverse of Madness.
If Wanda Maximoff 616 is still around, it’s possible that her next appearances in MCU will be directed towards helping her get over her mistakes in WandaVision, Multiverse of Madness, and WandaVision. Death seems too easy for her. We are certain that Scarlet Witch will be back in the MCU in the future, either in a new collaboration movie or her own film.

Doctor Strange 2: The ending *spoilers*
Anyone could be driven mad by knowledge of the multiverse. In the Multiverse of Madness, Doctor Strange saw Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), who wielded the Darkhold and used demonic monsters in order to find American Chavez (XochitlGomez). After WandaVision’s events, in which she enslaved WestView, Wanda has become a Scarlet Witch. She now wants to reunite her children Billy and Tommy. The only way to do this is to absorb Chavez’s dimension-hopping powers. Naww. Naww.
We see Chavez escape one of Wanda’s demons with the help an alternate Doctor Strange, before Wanda turns into a complete villain. Strange offers to sacrifice Chavez but she panics and opens a portal through multiverse to another universe, the main Marvel timeline, known as Universe 616. The demon and the dead Strange are with her. However, our Doctor Strange, who was at Christine (Rachel McAdams’) wedding, is present with Wong (Benedict Wong), the new Sorceror Superior, and they defeat the demonic.
They soon realize that Wanda is the one responsible for all the trouble. Strange, Wong and Chavez defend Kamar-Taj, but Wanda wins. Cue Chavez panicking, punching Strange through the multiverse, and Wong defending Kamar-Taj with a bunch of warriors. They search for an alternate Strange in this eco-friendly universe known as reality 838. Mordo (Chiwetel Eljiofor) is the Sanctum Sanatorium’s poisoner. He sends intruders to sleep and then wakes them up in glass boxes. They are in the Baxter Building, where Christine is a different version. Christine is also the original Marvel timeline Earth-616.
Strange is eventually taken over by Mordo to an Avengers-like team of multiverse defenders called The Illuminati. It includes Reed Richards (John Krasinski), Professor X(Patrick Stewart), Captain Marvel, Captain Carter (Haley Atwell), Black Bolt and Anson Mount. They discover that the Strange they knew attempted to use the Darkhold. The book had corrupted the Strange and they had to kill him.
Wanda 838 takes Wanda’s body and goes to the Illuminati. She brutally kills all of them. Strange escapes with Chavez 838 and Christine 838. They then head into another multiversal hole in search of the Book of Vishanti which is the polar opposite of Darkhold. Wanda is on their trail and steals Chavez and takes her back into Universe 616 where she will be able to take her powers. Strange and Christine are sent into a netherworld-like world where multiple universes have once collided, inciting an incursion.
Strange and Christine meet the Sanctorum, the universe’s version Strange. They then defend an alternate version the Darkhold. Strange 616 wins the musical battle between the Stranges. The Darkhold is then taken by Strange 616 and he uses its power to take over the body of the Strange. Wong, Chavez and Wanda defeat Wanda. Chavez brings Strange 616 back to his universe, and Wong trains her at Kamar-Taj. Strange wanders New York City streets, his day saved, but then a third eyes appears on his head.
Charlize Theron appears (!!!) in a post-credits scene Strange shows how he has his third eye under control. In a second scene, the man selling pizzas (played in part by Sam Raimi’s long-time collaborator Bruce Campbell), finally stops hitting his face in pain and tells us that “it’s over”.
Does Wanda die in Doctor Strange 2?
Doctor Strange 2’s main antagonist turned out to Wanda Maximoff. She went all evil in her quest for a reunion with her children after she lost them in WandaVision. The Darkhold has allowed her to tap into chaos magic. Her victims include the Illuminati and Kamar-Taj’s majority of warriors as well as a Doctor Strange variant. It proves to be too difficult for her when she nearly completes her task.
In the final, Chavez punches Wanda into the 838 reality. This is the reality of Wanda’s children. They are scared of the Scarlet Witch and beg Wanda 838 to save them. Wanda 616, a broken woman, sees herself through the eyes her children and realizes the destruction she has created. She returns through the portal, getting everyone to flee her evil lair (a temple), before bringing the whole area to the ground with her trapped beneath it.
Wanda was able to survive being buried under rubble. Is Scarlet Witch actually dead? The moment is left ambiguous by Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness. It’s a terrible sacrifice, but we don’t yet see her body. And, Marvel’s propensity for bringing back characters from the dead, it would be foolish to get ahead of ourselves.
Elizabeth Olsen opened up about her feelings during a discussion on her future in MCU. Variety opens in a new tab. “It’s strange that I’m expecting I’ll return, but no one has told me I am doing anything,” she said. “But in my head, I just assume they’ll have us again. I don’t know in what capacity, but it’s something I want to do again. I hope that there is more enjoyment in doing something else.
She also addressed the actor’s final appearance in film and whether that meant her character was dead. Access Online (opens in new window): “She couldn’t go away, I don’t think. Especially with the multiverse. She’s probably aware of her actions, but I don’t know. She’s not gone, but I doubt it.”
Michael Waldron, the writer of WandaVision, has shared his thoughts about her villainous turn. “I would say to WandaVision fans that I understand it. He told The Playlist that watching a loved character do horrible things is a sad thing. “That elicits strong feelings, which is what we are trying to do in movies. It wouldn’t have felt like the next step on her character adventure.
He continued, “It’s about her living in some degree of denial and she’s conquering that denial.” “But I doubt that she’s fully recognizing her anger over the things she’s suffered, and that anger is what she carries as she walks away knowing that she is the Scarlet Witch, the Darkhold, and this evil book.
What made Doctor Strange a zombie?
Strange uses the Darkhold to stop Wanda stealing Chavez’s powers when Doctor Strange and Christine 838 find themselves trapped in the netherworld. Strange uses the magic technique of dreamwalking, which allows him to inhabit an alternate universe. To stop Wanda, evil Wanda is in reality 616 and Strange 616. He must become the dead version of himself in that universe.
It seems that this does not go without consequences. Strange is attacked by spirits. Magic wielders are prohibited from reanimating the dead. Christine manages to stop them, and Strange can use them to cover Wanda. It seems that there are implications to using dark magic. It appears to cause an “incursion”.
Doctor Strange has a third eye.
Strange 616 and Christine 838 meet Sinister Strange when they enter the netherworld, a world that is collapsing into itself. He describes how he used Darkhold magic (Josh Brolin) to stop Thanos (Strange 616 and Christine 838). It had a severe impact on his reality, causing it to crumble the foundations. Strange 616 offered to trade with Strange 616 for Christine’s Darkhold. Sinister Strange is then seen with a third eye on the forehead. This could be a physical manifestation his dark magic effects.
Strange 616 can be seen strolling down New York streets, enjoying the music and happily dancing to the beat just before the credits begin. He then realizes that the eye is on his forehead and he has to double over. Although we don’t know what this means for Strange in the MCU the third eye has been a part of Strange’s daily life for some time in comics. Strange carries the Eye of Agamotto on his chain. Sometimes it appears on his forehead.
He can see the truth using the mystical light of the eye, which allows him to see through illusions and disguises. It also gives him the ability weaken evil creatures and to see past them. It’s unclear how much of this will make it into the movie version. The eye is an object in comics that makes it useful, but it doesn’t here. The eye appears again on Strange’s forehead in the middle of the credits scene.
Charlize Theron’s character Clea is who? What is an incursion?
Charlize Theron plays the new Doctor Strange 2 character in the first Doctor Strange 2 post credit credits credits scene. Although she isn’t named, her purple costume makes her instantly recognisable to comic book fans. This name is confirmed in the credits. Doctor Clea Strange, a sorceress who is also a disciple of Strange, appears in the comics. Later, she becomes his wife and the Sorcerer Superstar.
She asks Doctor Strange: “Doctor Strange, have you caused an incursion? We’re going to fix that.” Clea then opens a portal to another universe and adds, “Unless you are afraid?” Strange replied, “Not in the slightest” before she left the portal behind. Although we don’t yet know where they are going, this could lead to a possible Doctor Strange 3 or her appearance in another movie.
An “incursion” could help them understand where they are going. Invasion occurs when two universes collide, and they bleed together. If the problem isn’t solved, both universes will be destroyed. Comic book legend states that each incursion causes the Multiverse to contract, meaning the time it takes to complete an incursion is shorter. Sinister Strange lived in a universe that had experienced an incursion because of his use of Darkhold. Therefore, it is possible to assume that reality 616 faces incursions due to Strange 616’s use Darkhold to save Chavez. This link will provide more information about Clea’s comic book history.
Clea is the perfect time, but why? Waldron believes it all comes down to Strange’s love story. Gizmodo was told by the writer that they knew we wanted to introduce Clea. Strange was not at the right place at the beginning of the movie to be ready to meet his love. We had to end the loop with him and Christine Palmer. After she gave him the wisdom to love someone without fear, it was clear that we had the right idea to speculate on what might be with Clea and he.
Theron also posted a picture of her Marvel character on Instagram with the caption: “Meet Clea.”
Are America Chavez’s parents still around?
Strange and Chavez visited the 838 universe for the first time when they walked past a shop that allowed them to revisit their memories. Chavez then plays a memory of her parents. After playing outside with her mothers, she becomes afraid of bees and accidentally opens a portal. Her parents are pulled through. Chavez hasn’t been able find them since.
Strange’s belief that Chavez has supernatural powers could make it possible for the pair to still be alive. At one point, he tells her that she sends people to the right universe so they can be safe and sound in another. This seems to be a likely scenario. We’re leaving her to learn under Wong’s careful instruction.
Christine was what happened? Did she return to 838 in the end?
Although we didn’t see Christine 838 go back to her own universe after she stopped Wanda, it was implied in the dialogue between Strange & her. Christine talked about how she wished she could see his universe, but she knew she had to go home.
Who were the Illuminati members? Did they all perish?
The Illuminati will be seeing you soon – but only briefly. In universe 838, the film’s most memorable cameos feature the superheroes who are charged with making decisions that will impact the multiverse. These are: John Krasinski playing Reed Richards; Patrick Stewart as Professor X; Lashana Lynch as Captain Marvel; Anson Mount as Black Bolt for the Inhumans; Chiwetel Ejiofor portraying Baron Mordo.
They don’t last very long, as Wanda takes them out to the grave in her search for Chavez. Black Bolt’s mouth gets cut, which causes him to drown out his own voice. Richards is then shredded by Wanda. Captain Carter is killed by her shield. Scarlet Witch sends it flying towards her. Captain Marvel is crushed by a statue and Professor X’s neck is snapped inside 838’s Wanda. Mordo is the only one to survive, and he was last seen handcuffed. Our guide to The Illuminati: Doctor Strange 2 provides more information about each member’s comic book history.
Waldron may have pointed out an empty chair in the hall to eagle-eyed viewers. He told The Hollywood Reporter that it was also an unanswerable query, but they talked about it a lot. Maybe it was a mistake. Perhaps the decorator had too many chairs. [Laughs]”
Waldron also explained which version of Professor X was included in the movie. He quotes Stephen from Days of Future Past. Variety was also informed by the writer. “He’s a variant with the qualities of many different versions of these guys from across all of the multiverse.”
Is Doctor Strange 3 possible?
There has not been any confirmation yet about a third Doctor Strange movie. The mid-credits sting does suggest that it is possible. Cumberbatch could also return as Strange in another project, since there are Qplenty of Marvel Phase 4 releases, in which he and Theron’s Clea might make an appearance. We’ll keep you informed as soon as more information becomes available.
