In My Hero Academia or Mha, Tsuyu Asui is a Yuei pupil who’s preparing for the role of hero.

Appearance Tsuyu Asui

Tsuyu is a girl of short height with a frog-like look. She has dark, long hair, which she ties in an elegant bow on her back. Her eyes are very large with completely black irises, and especially longer lower eyelashes. As a frog would, she has a large mouth and a lengthy tongue. Also, she has quite large hands.

Her hero costume is a snug-fitting jumpsuit, with black and yellow patterns that resemble the skin markings of a frog. Additionally, she wears gloves, goggles, and goggles with a pattern that is similar to the animal. Though her boots are reminiscent of the legs of a frog, Tsuyu has all ten toes.

Character Tsuyu Asui

Tsuyu is a passionate and detached individual who says what she thinks about others. Tsuyu is more comfortable being known as “Tsu”, but only by those she considers to be friends. She addresses everyone using the honorific “-chan” in the absence of teachers and other authoritative figures.

Tsuyu’s parents were always at work, which is why they needed Tsuyu to look after her younger brothers from an early age. Given this situation, Tsuyu is now a highly mature and responsible woman capable of dividing her time between school work and household chores, without letting one get in the way of the other.

This implies that Tsuyu is able to lead and look after individuals, making sure they are at ease and secure even if they do not feel like it. She is a strong person with morals, goals and values and will confront her peers to protect them from actions she believes are foolish. When a group of students from Class 1-A aimed to save Katsuki Bakugo after they were attacked by the Vanguard Action Squad, Tsuyu was the most vocal and stated that acting out of their emotions as well as breaking the law in order to help him made them look like the criminals.

Tsuyu is also extremely calm, and capable of staying focused even in the most stressful of circumstances. A honors student from high school, Tsuyu is a sharp judge and is able to clearly convey her thoughts and isn’t easily affected by emotions, which makes her a reliable partner who is able to compensate for the weaknesses of a person.

This is why Recovery Girl describes her as “a perfect pillar of emotional support”. But even Tsuyu has limitations, which is why she has experienced emotional breakdowns several times. Her words could be perceived as inadvertently harsh because of her honesty and bluntness, which can make her feel remorseful and guilty whenever she comes across her peers.

Her most common expression is a blank stare, which makes it difficult to discern her thoughts and feelings to people around her, while making people shake in the process. Tsuyu is known for holding her finger in her mouth when she is talking or to show her curiosity. She usually pronounces “cra” (“kero” in Japanese) and mimics the croaking sound of a frog after the conclusion of her sentences or as a replacement for a lot of her single-word answers.

Relationships Tsuyu Asui

Habuko Mongoose

Habuko is one of the students who was in the same middle school with Tsuyu and was her first acquaintance. They share a lot of similarities with one another; however, they have very distinct physical traits that made it difficult to interact with other people and thus became reclusive. In most cases, Habuko would stalk and look over Tsuyu with no bad motives.

Tsuyu didn’t mind the situation, but she believed that Habuko’s behavior could be due to the way he looked. At the end of the day, Tsuyu asked the girl to be her friend. In awe of Tsuyu’s kindness, Habuko was willing to accept her invitation to join her.

They left middle school together but picked various high schools. Even though they were in different schools, they remained friends. This is evident by the time Habuko communicates with Tsuyu. She explains that they’ll always be together; in reality their friendship has been an inspiration that has helped them to become more social and meet new people at their respective high schools.

Izuku Midoriya

Tsuyu admires Izuku’s brave actions and win over Katsuki. In the USJ Saga, she was for carrying out Izuku’s plan to conquer the foes by showing gratitude and confidence in Izuku. Tsuyu was also able to visit Izuku after his fight with Shoto.

One interesting point is that Tsuyu constantly informs Izuku to refer to her by her first name within a few minutes after they meet. It is believed that Izuku was the very first one who could address Tsuyu by her first name without her becoming upset. When you consider that Tsuyu has stated that she would only like to be addressed as such by her close friends or those who are concerned for her.

It’s evident that Tsuyu considers Izuku as an individual who is worthy of being called that. However, Izuku is more likely to refer to her as “Asui” since he is courteous, has called “Asui” a number of times or even corrected himself, and even expressed concern about her and he regards her as a friend.

Minoru Mineta

Tsuyu is frequently associated with Minoru but she usually is the one to punish him for his naughty actions or insensitive comments. Tsuyu frequently punishes Minoru using her tongue. The two appear to be close friends.

Mina Ashido

The two girls are close because they are frequently in conversation with each other. Tsuyu is elated with Mina for winning the competition, even though she is angry over losing.

Fumikage Tokoyami

While they did not interact in classes, Tsuyu was paired with Fumikage at least once. They collaborated during battle practice and during the practical portion of their final examinations.

Tsuyu and Fumikage negotiated formulating a strategy for their practical exam which showed that they had an excellent sense of communicating with one another. In their exam against Ectoplasm, both Fumikage and Tsuyu demonstrated great synergy and collaboration.

Their Quirks work well in fight and escape situations. Tsuyu was a support to Fumikage who was committed to fight. Despite being blocked by Ectoplasm, the girl was confident that they’d be fine as she believed that Fumikage was robust. Together, they were able to successfully pass the test.

Ochaco Uraraka and Nejire Hado

Nejire assisted Ochaco and Tsuyu in their internship with Ryukyu. Three girls became close to one another after Ochaco and Tsuyu did not hesitate to cooperate and listened to Nejire throughout their internship and also during the time Ochaco and Tsuyu battled against Himiko.

They appear to be very close as Tsuyu was able to comfort Ochaco by offering her a hug (something she was willing to accept) in the Saga of Retreat in the Woods. They both refer to each other by their first names, and even go as far as to call one another “darling” in an abbreviated way.

Sirius

Tsuyu and Sirius are very good friends and train together during her time of apprenticeship. Sirius taught Tsuyu how important it is to be a Hero and told her that in the future, she will be a successful Hero.

Himiko Toga

Tsuyu as well as Himiko are adversaries. Tsuyu has a deep hatred for Himiko for trying to sabotage her and Ochaco and believes that she is a figment of her imagination. Despite her attempts to be friends, Tsuyu reacted with displeasure particularly when she called her by her initials, something she has only allowed her friends to do.

Quirk And Skills Tsuyu Asui

Frog
Tsuyu’s Quirk lets her accomplish anything that a frog would do, such as:

• Jump long distances;
• Attach herself to walls;
• The tongue can be extended 20 to 30 meters and then lift someone;
• Cleanse/expel its stomach, and store/expel objects within;
• A sticky, toxic liquid that is secreted (most powerful when it is secreted onto the tongue);
• Camouflage itself.

Trivia Tsuyu Asui

• The design of Tsuyu’s initial.
• The initial design of Tsuyu was not as frog-like, and more human-like in appearance with a smaller mouth and eyes. It was also designed to be more optimistic.
• Tsuyu was initially designed as a male character. But, she was changed to a female character due to the fact that the class was comprised of very small numbers of girls. She is a close friend of Toru Hagakure.
• Tsuyu’s information on Yuei is as the following:
• Student #3 in Class 1-A;
• Ranked 13th in the Quirk Test;
• Sixth place in Class 1-A grades.
• Ranked in the First Year Top 42 in the Sports Festival.
• Tsuyu’s position in the Popularity Surveys are as the following:
• In the initial poll, she placed 6th.
• In the second popular poll, she was ranked 9th.
• In the first popular poll of the US she was ranked 2nd.
• Her name is a combination of the words Frog (Wa ?) , blow (Chui ?) and the rainy, humid weather that is Japan (Mei Yu ? ) The latter one being a reference to the weather during egg-laying period of the frog.
• Tsuyu likes rain and jelly.
• A photo of Chika Amatori from the World of Trigger used by Oji Unit, first seen in Chapter 151 bears an uncanny resemblance to Tsuyu.
• In addition, Tsuyu’s birthday occurs one day later than Chika’s (February 11) and both bear the kanji of rain (Yu ) in their names. They also appear to be connected to Frogs (in the World of Trigger system, Chika’s zodiac symbol is frog).
