In Demon Slayer, Shinobu Kocho (Kocho Shinobu) is a character in the show Demon Slayer. She is a demon killer as well as the current Insect Hashira (Mushi Bashira). Shinobu was recruited to the Demon Slayer Corps following the loss of her younger sister Kanae at the hands of Upper Rank Two Doma. Her intention was to shield others from feeling the same grief she suffered.

Appearance Shinobu Kocho Demon Slayer

Shinobu is a beautiful young woman of small stature, sporting large, purple eyes which do not have pupils. They have an ethereal purple haze that resembles the eyes of insects. Her hair is curly to shoulder length and ranges between black and purple towards the ends. It is styled into a braid that’s tied at an angle at the top of her head, in a ‘yakai-maki hairstyle, and secured by a purple and white butterfly hair ornament.

The fringe is voluminous and runs from her ear. It splits at the center, and continues into a frame around her face with two thin hair strands that are located around her cheeks. Since she is small in size as well as being a little slender, her Insect Hashira is considered to be a weak-looking creature and it is later emphasized by the fact that the Insect Hashira does not have the power to slice off the head of a demon like the other Hashira do.

Shinobu wears the dark purple hue of the uniform that is worn by the Demon Slayer Corps, as she wears dark hakama pants secured by tabi socks which are a representation of butterflies’ wings that are wrapped around her calves. She also wears a haori that was once part of her Flower Hashira sister Kanae, with the shape of a butterfly. Shinobu wears a pair of shoes with white soles and straps of dark purple.

Shinobu Kocho has a happy persona, always sporting smiles on her face regardless of what situation she finds herself in. However, this cheerful personality has proven to be an act of deceit that is evident in her inclination of joking with people, even to the point of becoming somewhat sadistic. Despite her calm and relaxed appearance, Shinobu has shown herself to be insensitive and cruel to demons.

General Abilities :

As an Insect Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Shinobu is a skilled swordsman. Even though she’s not equipped with the physical strength to slice the head of a demon and isn’t able to develop superhuman powers as the other Hashira, Shinobu is a dangerous and deadly exterminator who uses a sword that is coated in poison. As Shinobu is the Insect Hashira, she employs tactics inspired by insects.

Physical Abilities

Increased Strength: Despite having an exterminator’s tiny stature and thus lacking the strength of her arms, Shinobu compensates for this by gaining strength through her thrusts and sharp, strong cuts. It is said that her sword can slice a stone in half. Her attack moves are thought to be the most swift among her peers on the Hashira.

Speed and fast reflexes: Shinobu is one of the most speedy characters in the show because she is so fast she is able to easily escape and take demons by surprise. Doma, the Upper Rank Two, says she was the fastest Hashira that he has ever encountered.

Astonishing Stamina and Resistance: In her fight against Doma, Shinobu was seriously injured when she inhaled the ice-dust technique that destroyed one of the Insect Hashira’s lungs, causing her to lose a great deal of blood. However, she was able to fight back and endured the pain and continued her battle against the Upper Rank, a feat that shocked her opponent.

MENTAL ABILITIES of Shinobu Demon Slayer

Tactical Intellect: The Insect Hashira has a vast understanding of poisons used in her fight. In her battle against Doma, she was able to determine the amount of poison used and the poison mixture that could prove effective. After the demise of her sister, Shinobu utilized the details Kanae had gathered about Doma, which assisted her Insect Hashira to devise a plan that would be able to defeat the Upper Rank.

Indomitable Will:

As with the other Demon Slayers, Shinobu possesses an unshakeable spirit and willpower when it comes to the destruction of demons. This is something that is evident during her battle with Upper Rank Doma. Despite the fact that Shinobu was in danger of dying, Shinobu resisted his injuries, fighting with determination until the final moment.

Poisonous Body:

With the aim of defeating the Upper Rank Doma, the Insect Hashira profoundly altered her body. Having been consuming extremely concentrated Wisteria poison for one year, she was able to infuse the poison into her body, making it unnoticeable to the point that her organs and blood have merged with the poison. Despite not being as proficient in combat as many of her colleagues on the Hashira, Shinobu demonstrates immense mastery in the pharmaceutical and medical field and is highly adept at creating poisons with Wisteria flowers. The ability to kill enemies within seconds, she made a poison powerful enough to weaken Upper Rank Doma.

She also proved to possess the required knowledge to create poisons that can negate the effects of others, like Zenitsu Agatsuma’s story of a man dying from the poison that transformed the man into an insect. However, his Insect Hashira arrived in time to save him from death by injecting a poison to neutralize the effects of another poison, and could restore the human appearance of an exterminator.

Anti-Kibutsuji Drug:

Teaming along with Tamayo as well as Yuishiro, Shinobu and the trio were capable of creating the drug in four stages to be utilized in the fight against Muzan to diminish his physical strength and ability. Equipment Shinobu Kocho Demon Slayer

Nichirin Sting Blade: Shinobu Kocho’s Nichirin blade has been extensively modified and forged by the chief of the village of blacksmiths, Tecchin Tecchikawahara. The sword is similar to the other swords from its handle, but it is a bit higher than the point.

But above that, the sword’s blade disappears, which is replaced by a rod that has an edge that resembles the shape of a needle, like the stinger of insects, in both appearance and in function. The purpose of the needle is that it injects poison of the wisteria plant into demons.

Shinobu has altered the sheath on her sword to function as a carrier and mixer for poison. Its hilt Insect Hashira katana is shaped as a four-petaled flower. The blade of Shinobu’s sword has the color of lavender blue. On the right side of her blade there is an inscription that reads: Akki (demons) and on the left side there is another inscription that reads: Messatsu (destruction).
